One Another

“One Another” Passages in New Testament

Scripture gives us good insight into our life together as the Body of Christ in many Bible passages referring to “one another.” We find about 100 verses which include these words or the similar phrase, Aeach other.” What better place to see what our life should be like than in the Word? Below are many of the verses as found in the New American Standard Bible (NASB 95). With only partial excerpts given here, you might want to read the larger contexts.

Of the 100 verses, 30 were incidental uses of “one another,” such as Athey said to one another.” In another 18 verses, there are warnings against bad behavior, such as lying to, speaking against, or envying “one another.” The other 52 verses, shown below, contain positive aspects of our relationships in living with “one another” in Jesus= Body. There are 58 occurrences of either “one another” and “each other” in these verses.

17 verses focus on loving one another. In addition, love also appears in four verses where a different trait is more central, such as “through love serve one another” (Gal. 5:13), where serving is the active verb.
